Privacy Policy

In short: The Chamber extension runs entirely inside your browser. It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any data, and your settings stay on your device. This website uses privacy-preserving, cookieless visit counts only — no personal data (see below).
What the extension stores
Chamber keeps a small amount of data so it can remember how you like things to sound:
- Effect settings: your speed, reverb, and bass-boost levels, the "preserve pitch" toggle, and which preset is active.
- Custom presets: any presets you save, including the name you type for each one.
This data is saved locally in your browser using
chrome.storage.local. It lives on your own device. It is never sent to us or
to anyone else, and we have no server that could receive it.
What the extension collects
Nothing. The extension does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share any personal information, browsing history, or listening data. There is no tracking or advertising inside the extension, and it communicates with no server of ours.
Pages you visit
The extension never reads your browsing history, tab URLs, or page titles. When you turn on an effect, it only works with the audio and video already playing on the page in front of you, applying speed, reverb, and bass directly in your browser with the Web Audio API. The audio is processed on your device and is never uploaded or recorded.
On sites that lock their own audio down so it can't be reshaped this way (Spotify, Apple Music), an opt-in Tab audio feature can instead play that tab's sound through the same local effects. It only turns on when you enable it for a specific tab from the popup, only affects that one tab, and ends the moment you turn it off or close the tab. Just like everything else, that audio is processed live on your device and is never recorded, uploaded, or sent anywhere.
Permissions
The extension requests storage, used only to save the effect settings and
custom presets described above, and tabCapture plus offscreen,
used only for the opt-in Tab audio feature described in the previous section. To apply
effects directly on a page, it also runs on the pages where you play media, but only to
reshape that media locally. It reads no page content and sends nothing anywhere.
Your data, your control
You can clear everything the extension has saved at any time: open the options page to delete custom presets or reset the effect to its defaults, or remove the extension from your browser to delete its stored data entirely.
This website
This site (chamber.mbparker.com) uses Umami, a privacy-preserving analytics tool, to count visits — roughly how many people view each page, which sites they arrived from, and whether they clicked "Add to browser." It is cookieless and stores no personal data: no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting, and no IP addresses are kept. The figures are aggregate only and cannot identify you. This applies to the website alone; the extension itself still collects nothing.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
